DuPont announced on August 29 that it has signed a definitive agreement, under which Arclin will acquire DuPont's aramid business, including the two major brands of Kevlar and Nomex, for approximately 1.8 billion U.S. dollars (equivalent to more than 12 billion yuan). The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
Lori Koch, Chief Executive Officer of DuPont, stated that this sale marks another important step for the new DuPont in the continuous optimization of its business portfolio. It not only further strengthens the strategic focus of the company's business portfolio, but also enhances the overall growth potential and profit margin level.
Upon the closing of the transaction, DuPont will receive approximately 1.2 billion U.S. dollars in cash, 300 million U.S. dollars in notes receivable, as well as non-controlling common stock interests in Arclin with a current valuation of 325 million U.S. dollars. This equity interest is expected to account for approximately 17.5% of the shares at the time of the transaction's completion.
It is reported that in the 1960s, DuPont took the lead in developing aramids. Its two major synthetic fiber brands, Kevlar and Nomex, are renowned worldwide. Currently, the aramid business has approximately 1,900 employees and five production bases, and achieved net sales of 1.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2024.
Arclin focuses on polymer technology, engineering products and specialty materials manufacturing. Headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, the United States, it has offices and production bases in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, with business covering global markets.
