DOTP Chemical name: Dioctyl terephthalate, referred to as dioctyl lipid, English abbreviation DOTP, molecular formula: C24H3804, properties: Light yellow transparent oil liquid or colorless transparent oil liquid, melting point 30℃, boiling point 400℃, miscible with water, viscosity 63mPa.s(25℃), 5mPa.s(100℃), 410mPa.s(0℃), freezing point -48℃, ignition point 399℃. Ⅱ. DOTP production process
DOTP production process theoretically has the following three processes:
1. Direct esterification method: PTA terephthalate and octanol are directly esterified in the presence of catalyst. This process is the mainstream process in the industry at present, the process is simple and the yield is stable.

2, transesterification method: dimethyl terephthalate DMT or polyethylene terephthalate waste and octanol in the presence of catalyst transesterification reaction. Polyester as a general plastic has been widely used in all kinds of packaging materials, in recent years, the amount of polyester has increased rapidly, waste polyester is also more and more, because of its strong chemical inertia is difficult to be degraded by air or microorganisms. The use of waste polyester to produce DOTP is one of the most effective ways of waste polyester recycling.
3, acyl chlorolysis method: the alcoholysis reaction of benzoyl chloride and octanol. Due to the high price of p-benzoyl chloride, this scheme has theoretical value but industrial application value is not high.
Ⅲ. DOTP terminal use

DOTP has good electrical and thermal properties and excellent compatibility. It can be used for plasticizing acrylonitrile derivatives, polyvinyl butyraldehyde, rubber, cellulose nitrate, etc. In rubber, neoprene rubber, EPDM rubber and other products can be used as softener. It is especially used in cable material with good plasticizing effect and low volatility, widely used in various products requiring heat resistance and high insulation, and is an ideal plasticizer for the production of cable material with temperature resistance of 70 ° C and other PVC products requiring volatile resistance.
