According to the official wechat account of the Management committee of Zhangzhou Gulei Port Economic Development Zone, a commercial operation ceremony was held on December 19 for the Fujian Zhangzhou Gulei Refinery and Chemical Integration Project, the largest petrochemical cooperation project across the Taiwan Straits.
Gulei Refining and Chemical Integration project is a joint venture between SINOPEC Fujian Refining and Chemical Co., LTD and Xuteng Investment Co., LTD. The first phase of the project mainly includes 9 sets of chemical plants such as ethylene cracking with actual processing capacity of 1 million tons/year, as well as supporting public works, docks and storage and transportation facilities, with a total investment of 27.8 billion yuan and an annual output of 1 million tons of ethylene.
Data shows that Gulei refining and chemical integration project is the leading project of Gulei Petrochemical Base, which is one of the seven major petrochemical industry bases in China. In November 2016, Fujian Gulei Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was formally established. The first phase of the project started construction in December 2017, was successfully delivered in May 2021, and was completed and put into operation in August 2021.
Since the trial operation of Gulepec project, the overall operation of the plant is stable, energy utilization, three wastes emission, carbon emission indicators are in the international advanced level, ethylene plant "diene" yield and some of the technical and economic indicators of styrene, ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol have reached the advanced level of the same industry. Last November, Gulei Petrochemical officially opened the whole process of ethylene sales in Taiwan, and the current sales volume of ethylene monomer in Taiwan exceeded 85,000 tons.
