Dichloromethane, an organic compound with the chemical formula CH2Cl2, is a colorless transparent liquid with a pungent odor similar to ether. Operation and Storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight. Storage should be away from heat source, flame and contraindications, such as strong oxidant, strong acid, nitric acid. Store in appropriately labeled containers. Unused containers and empty buckets should be tightly capped. Avoid container damage and regularly check the storage tank for defects such as breakage or overflow. Containers are galvanized or lined with phenolic synthetic resins to reduce the likelihood of dichloromethane decomposition. Storage space is limited. Put up warning signs where appropriate. The storage area should be separated from the densely populated operation area and restricted to personnel access. Use plastic water pipes designated for substances to remove toxic substances. The material may accumulate static electricity, which may cause combustion. Store in a cool and dry place with good ventilation and avoid direct sunlight.
